A gentle reminder ...

The goal of this blog initially was for Mr. Mc to show his students and friends what he doing while in Pennsylvania and DC in 2011. Now it's being used as a place for him, travelling colleagues and former students to discuss edumacation and history related "stuff" as well as ... well, anything which pops into his head. Mr. Mc would never knowingly embarrass either the school he loves or the family he is devoted to. By joining in the discussion, he expects the same of you.

Meeting Young Abe Lincoln...

We returned from Springfield at about 11 p.m. last night. We started at about 7:30 a.m. Any thing thoughtful... well, there is nothing thoughtful in my brain at this point. The photos are below from New Salem. Lincoln lived there for about six years. He arrives in New Salem as a young farm kid and leaves a lawyer. Its in New Salem where he serves as a merchant, postmaster, surveyor, and studied the law.

The Lincoln we know is, in many ways, formed in this community of about 200 on the Sagamon River.
