A gentle reminder ...

The goal of this blog initially was for Mr. Mc to show his students and friends what he doing while in Pennsylvania and DC in 2011. Now it's being used as a place for him, travelling colleagues and former students to discuss edumacation and history related "stuff" as well as ... well, anything which pops into his head. Mr. Mc would never knowingly embarrass either the school he loves or the family he is devoted to. By joining in the discussion, he expects the same of you.

Fun (well fun isn't the word for this but...) with maps

of the interactive map of slavery

A PhD candidate from Brandeis University came up with this interactive map showing the spread of slavery in the United States. I'm putting it here so I can book mark the page, but also because its a great tool for both adults and youth to use as we explore how slavery develops where it does.

The idea of doing this kind of digital history with my students fascinates me...I want to learn how to teach this to them.

BTW-Lincoln Mullen's blog is interesting apart from the map. You should check it out.
